You are designing an amplifier circuit using an NPN transistor with a β (current gain) of 100. If the base current (IB) is 20μA, calculate the collector current (IC) and the emitter current (IE). Assume the transistor is in active mode.

In active mode, the collector current (IC) is approximately equal to the emitter current (IE).

Given:
β (current gain) = 100
IB (base current) = 20μA

Using the relation: IC = β * IB

IC = 100 * 20μA = 2000μA = 2mA

Thus, the collector current is 2mA.

Since IC ≈ IE, the emitter current is also approximately 2mA.
